Mild temperatures making you think about outdoor climbing? Be aware that the "Pie for Strength" sector of Mill Creek North Rim is closed to climbing due to potential eagle nesting in the area (they have in the past, although not the past two years). Studies conducted by the MPG Ranch show that eagles actively engage in courtship towards the end of February; the closure is intended to provide a temporal buffer to allow golden eagles to se...lect a nest site in the absence of disturbance. The Bitterroot National Forest biologist will visit the area in late May/early June; should eagles be nesting, the closure will remain in effect until mid-July; otherwise it will be lifted. This closure affects ONLY the Pie for Strength area (see attached map). Let us be good stewards of this land we are fortunate to share with wild creatures!
